Raised on a diet of John Carpenter films, actor-turned-filmmaker Nico Sentner’s directorial debut is an action-packed mash-up of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN and ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, which revels in the kind of B-movie madness you used to find on video store shelves in the 1980s. It’s 8 against 800 when Blaxploitation legend Fred Williamson leads a hand picked team of mercenaries (including German martial arts master Mike Möller and Hazuki Kato) into Chernobyl’s contaminated zone to retrieve a Nazi doomsday weapon. With an army of badasses in radiation suits attacking from every angle, Williamson declares, “We’re in deep shit!” – and he’s right. ATOMIC EDEN is pure grindhouse mayhem and only fittingly makes its World Premiere at Monster Fest 2015.
