Julia Ducournau was born in Paris in 1983 and graduated from La Femis in 2008. She worked as a story editor and script consultant until 2011, when she directed her first short film, JUNIOR. The film was awarded in numerous international festivals, among them Cannes Critics’ Week, Premiers Plans Angers, Paris Cinema and Next Bucharest and was sold to TV in France (Canal+), Italy (RTI), Spain (Prisa TV) and Belgium (BeTV). In 2012 she co-directed a TV feature for Canal+ called MANGE. Her first feature-length film RAW debuted at Cannes in 2016 and was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize.
