Monster Fest Presents / 15 August 2016

The Return of Friday Fright Nights!

As Monster Fest season draws near, Monster Fest presents a new season of Friday Fright Nights, monthly genre film screenings at the Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn.

We begin August 26th with the Blu Ray launch for Dave Jackson’s CAT SICK BLUES (Best Australian Feature at Monster Fest 2015). Jackson and “Catman” star Matthew Vaughan will appear in person for a Q+A, there will be a draw to win one of several amazing alternative posters made for the film’s crowdfunding campaign, and we’ll have special event pricing on the freshly-minted Blu Rays ($20) and DVDs ($10). PLUS! Come roll around and get your photo taken in our giant cat litter box!

On September 23 we follow up with I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER, a wintry small-town murder mystery beautifully shot in 16mm by Robbie Ryan (SLOW WEST, RED ROAD) and starring Christopher Lloyd (BACK TO THE FUTURE, TAXI) alongside rising star Max Records (WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE) as a sociopathic teen turned amateur sleuth.

October 14th we ask the question “Are We Men? Or Are We Simply Beasts?” with AAAAAAAAH!, the latest oddball indie horror comedy from writer/director/actor Steve Oram (SIGHTSEERS), spoken entirely in ape language and featuring a slew of British comedy regulars including THE MIGHTY BOOSH’s Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, Alice Lowe (GARTH MARENGHI’S DARKPLACE), British singer/actress Toyah Wilcox and a score by King Crimson’s Robert Fripp.

In November of course we are All-Monster, All-the-Time as Monster Fest 2016 hits and the Cult of Monster takes over the Lido from November 24-27 to present four days of premieres, repertory sidebars, special guests, short films, panels, lectures, parties, trivia and more!

We close out the season with Nicolas Pesce’s Sundance shocker THE EYES OF MY MOTHER on December 2, a beautifully lurid black and white indie horror that needs to be experienced in all its monochromatic psychosis on the big screen!

In addition to their Friday Fright Night screenings, I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER will be getting a theatrical run at the Lido from September 22-28 and THE EYES OF MY MOTHER from December 1-7.
